Driving by, we braked hard when noticing a "For sale" sign on this little cottage located at only 1,5 km from the Dutch seaside. We instantly fell in love with the charm, the views and the wild geese. 3 days later, we were the happy buyers. The house, originally built in the early 19th century, was quite derelict, so we basically stripped it, keeping only 3 windows and the green painted wooden beams found upon removing the plaster pannel ceiling. We tried to make an easy living, no fuss holiday cottage. Experiencing with materials I had never used in previous renovations such as a green roof for the annex, zinc for the kitchen and bathroom counter tops and larch wood for floors and walls, proved a lot of fun. And I was lucky enough to have much help of Marcel,my favorite blacksmith for the custom made shower partition and kitchen shelves.
Next stage will be planting trees and plants during winter.
Meanwhile, the cottage is already available for long week-ends or holidays rental.
There is one double bedroom on ground floor. Bathroom with shower and bath. Separate toilet. A steep staircase (not suitable for small children) leads to 2 beds under the sloped roof and a separate double room with walk in closet and separate toilet. There is a wooden stove and central gaz heating. The kitchen is equipped with a combi-oven and a dishwasher. Cars can be parked in front of the house. Well behaved cats and dogs are welcome.
